Toyota being the automotive giant provides us with some of the best classes of vehicles at
different points in time. The second-generation Highlander was among one of them that
holds all the advantages. It was launched at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. This is the five-
seater vehicle from Toyota that has gained massive popularity due to several reasons.
Toyota Highlander XU: Second generation
It comes with three trim levels Base, Sport, and Limited. These trims are equipped with all
the features such as Electric Power Steering (EPS) system, heated seats, a rear-seat DVD
entertainment system with a 9-inch screen, a touch-screen DVD based navigation system, a
3.5-inch LCD, leather seats, a new Smart Key System, an upgraded JBL Synthesis stereo.
When it comes to technical features, Highlander has all the efficient ones. The different trim
levels come with various specifications of engines and transmission. The 2008 model was
equipped with a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 with five-speed automatic transmission. It also has
decreased curb weight that makes it apt for increasing fuel economy.
In 2009 it was equipped with a 4-cylinder engine that has an innovative engine which is
ULEV-II certified 2.7-liter 1AR-FE I4 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It is
capable of generating 139 kW at 5,800 rpm and 252 NM. The fuel economy of 12litre/100
km makes it an efficient one. This average is far better than its predecessor models.
Geographically some concerns make this model be equipped with different features as per
the state norms. Like in Australia it was available in three trim levels KX-R, KX-S, and
Grande. These all are either 2WD or AWD. The standard model has a seating capacity
between 5 to7, people. Apart from some minor changes, these specifications remain the
same in other markets also.
